The Golden Triangle Business Roundtable (GTBR) held its 34th annual Contractor Safety Awards Banquet on Aug. 21 at the Robert “Bob” Bowers Civic Center.
The annual event honors Golden Triangle contractors for exemplary safety performance in the industrial workplace.
This year, 17 GTBR member industrial facilities nominated 92 contractor organizations for the awards, according to GTBR Executive Director Katie Celli.
Evaluations were conducted by the GTBR Safety Awards Committee, comprised of safety professionals representing owner sites across Southeast Texas.
The committee reviewed detailed safety performance metrics, OSHA records, program innovations, and continuous improvement initiatives before selecting honorees. Plant managers and industry executives from each industrial site presented awards to the contractor companies.
The keynote speaker was Jeff Newman, executive vice president of Operations at Motiva.
“Safety isn’t just a priority — it’s a core value. These companies have proven that when owners and contractors work together, we can achieve world-class safety performance and set a standard for the entire nation,” stated Celli. “The safety achievements we’re celebrating are not just statistics — they’re a reflection of the culture, commitment, and collaboration that define Southeast Texas industry. Together, we’re proving that safety excellence is not only possible, it’s sustainable.”

Nineteen contractor companies received competitive awards at the banquet, based on numerous statistics, such as recordable incident rates, OSHA incident history, consecutive days without a recordable or lost-time incident, and changes or innovations to programs, processes, or procedures that were implemented to keep the workforce productive and safe.
