‘Local icon’

Legendary broadcaster named ‘Man of the Year’ by Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce

Last month, iHeartMedia Beaumont announced legendary broadcaster and beloved voice of Southeast Texas, Al Caldwell, has been named the 2025 Man of the Year by the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.

Caldwell has become a household name through his work on iHeartMedia Beaumont’s KLVI News Talk 560, where his wit, wisdom and unwavering dedication to the community have earned him the title of “local icon,” the announcement went on to describe.

The award is presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, this year held Oct. 7 at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Caldwell has been a cornerstone of Beaumont region for more than five decades — known for his                                                     authenticity, passion, and a deep love for Beaumont and its people. As host of the long running “Al Caldwell Morning Show” on KLVI News Talk 560, he has inspired generations of listeners.

Now at 89, he continues to wake up at 4 a.m. to entertain and inform his long standing and loyal fan base.

But it’s his work off the air — supporting nonprofits, mentoring youth, and shining a spotlight on issues that matter — that truly exemplifies the heart of this year’s honoree, the Chamber expressed

“Al Caldwell is more than just a radio personality — he’s the voice of our community,” said Amy Lovoi, Chamber president. “Through decades of broadcasting and public service, Al has uplifted this city with his humor, insight, and compassion. We are honored to recognize him as our 2025 Man of the Year.”

Known for his unmatched work ethic and trademark charm, Caldwell’s contributions extend far beyond the microphone.

Whether championing local causes or celebrating Beaumont’s triumphs, he has remained a constant source of positivity and pride for the region.

“It’s a privilege to sit behind the microphone and talk with the people of Beaumont each morning,” said Caldwell. “This community has given me so much over the years and being recognized by the Chamber as ‘Man of the Year’ is truly humbling. I love telling stories, sharing laughs, connecting with listeners and waking up before the sun to be part of their day.”
