Symphony announces ‘A Texas Tribute’

The Symphony of Southeast Texas (SOST) has announced its first POPS concert of the 70th Anniversary season, “A Texas Tribute.”

Maestro Chelsea Tipton II, celebrating his 14th year with SOST, leads SOST in concert on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Julie Rogers Theatre. The Symphony welcomes Kelli and Bob Phillips back to Beaumont as they celebrate 50 years with the Texas Country Reporter, which includes their special Symphony review.

“A Texas Tribute” is a unique program that Kelli and Bob have presented around Texas, with its narrative and select music representing the couple’s view on Texas. The program provides a fascinating historical tour, told through stories Bob has collected in his 50 years of visiting unique towns.

The concept for “A Texas Tribute” has been developed in partnership with The Dallas Winds, who have suggested musical selections for the evening. Texas composer, publisher and Dallas Winds Staff Arranger David Lovrien has composed original music that will underscore the narrated portions of the event.

Single tickets are on sale with prices ranging from $36-$78 for this concert. Season tickets are available now through Nov. 12. Prices are prorated at $105-239 for the rest of the season. This includes the remaining three Classic Series concerts and the two Pops concerts.

“Our deepest thanks go out to our concert sponsors Texas Farm Credit and Total Energies, and guest artist sponsor S.L. and Natalie Greenberg. Sponsors like this help the Symphony of Southeast Texas play a role in the education, entertainment, and cultural enrichment of all residents of Southeast Texas,” SOST stated in its announcement of the concert.

SOST, celebrating its 70th season, is a regional, professional orchestra based in Beaumont. The Symphony performs a number of subscription concerts, educational programs and other events throughout Southeast Texas each year. SOST’s home base is the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont. The orchestra is composed of local musicians from the Beaumont vicinity, as well as many musicians from the Houston and Lake Charles areas.
