Total of 91 nominations received for awards
The Golden Triangle Business Roundtable (GTBR) announced nominees for its 34th annual Contractor Safety Awards Luncheon, an event dedicated to honoring the region’s most outstanding contractor safety achievements.
The event is Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Robert A. Bob Bowers Civic Center, 3401 Cultural Center Dr. in Port Arthur. The social hour and expo is 9-11 a.m. and the awards banquet is 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
GTBR will host industrial leaders, contractors and safety professionals from across Southeast Texas. This year’s keynote speaker is Jeff Newman, plant manager at Motiva.
Plant managers other site leadership from 17 industrial facilities across Southeast Texas will recognize the nominees for safety awards.
The Contractor Safety Awards recognize companies for “exemplary” safety records at Southeast Texas industrial sites. Nominees, selected by facility representatives, are evaluated on performance statistics and safety data from the 2024 calendar year, according to GTBR Executive Director Katie Celli.
Awards will be presented in six categories:
• Construction/Maintenance: Large, Medium, Meritorious
• Specialty/Engineering: Large, Medium, Meritorious
In addition to the six main safety categories, this year’s program includes special recognitions such as the Outstanding Newcomer Award, given to a contractor receiving their first CSA nomination and newly engaged with GTBR, and the Most Decorated Award, honoring companies with the highest number of nominations within their man-hour category.
“This annual event is significant because, year after year, the contractor companies raise the bar for safety excellence,” said Celli. “Honoring the nominees and the recipients identifies each company as one of the top safety performers, while reinforcing the importance of industrial workplace safety. A safe and well-skilled workforce is an essential component to the success of Southeast Texas.”
