Reimer McGuinness Hess CPAs and Advisors merge into Doeren Mayhew

Doeren Mayhew, a national assurance, tax and advisory firm, acquired Houston CPA firm Reimer McGuinness Hess CPAs & Advisors (RMH), expanding its presence in the market. As a result of the acquisition, all 38 RMH employees joined Doeren Mayhew effective July 1.

“We’re extremely excited to expand our team with this acquisition,” said Chris Masters, Houston managing principal at Doeren Mayhew. “Like Doeren Mayhew, RMH is known for delivering quality services with a tailored approach, and their complementary services will make for a seamless transition. We’re also looking forward to growing our Houston team with a group of very talented accounting professionals and industry leaders.”

Born and raised in Beaumont, Randy Reimer co-founded RMH in 2007 with just four employees and grew the firm to nearly 40 employees prior to the acquisition. Under his leadership, RMH became a leading Houston CPA firm over the past 18 years.

Max Dunlap, also a Beaumont native and a graduate of Lamar University, served as an equity partner leading RMH’s audit practice. Both Reimer and Dunlap will transition into leadership roles at Doeren Mayhew.

RMH’s former co-founding partner, Tom McGuinness, will join the firm as a senior advisor. The remaining former partners — including Reimer, Dunlap, Mike Huett, Amy Estes and Shanna Rougeau — will join Doeren Mayhew’s current leadership group as principals.

“Doeren Mayhew has a strong reputation in the Houston marketplace, and although they are a large firm, we see the dynamic culture and entrepreneurial approach they bring to servicing clients and retaining their team members,” Reimer said. “With so much change happening in the accounting industry, we are looking forward to joining a firm that aligns with our values and brings additional resources to not only help our clients grow but also our team.”

The acquisition reportedly supports Doeren Mayhew’s national growth strategy, with a focus on expanding within its current regions and entering new markets. In June, the firm acquired three practices, including Vanessa Solá’s Frierson, Solá, Simonton & Kutac, PLLC, in Houston; Benoit & Associates CPAs; and Draper Bialik & Co. CPAs, expanding its presence in West Michigan.

The firm also recently entered the Tennessee market with the acquisition of Thurman Campbell Group, PLC in March 2025.

Founded in 1932, Doeren Mayhew is an assurance, tax and advisory firm.
