Monthly sales tax revenue goes to local cities, ESDs, etc.

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose district $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 2.5% more than in February 2025.

Allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly, October, November and December sales by quarterly filers, and 2025 sales by businesses that report tax annually.

According to Hancock, the total allocations to cities was $963.4 million, $95.1 million to counties, $309.4 million to transit systems and $156.8 million to special purpose districts.

Allocations and percent from prior year for cities in Jefferson County, all 1.5% tax rate, were the following:

• Beaumont: $5.933 million, up 16.93%

• Bevil Oaks: $12,731, up 8.46%

• China: $8,985, down 21.52%

• Groves: $353,156, down 1.07%

• Nederland: $651,243, down 12.65%

• Nome: $13,104, up 48.93%

• Port Arthur: $2.541 million, up 8.23%

• Port Neches: $287,479, down 3.79%

In Hardin County, the following cities’ allocation with a 2% tax rate are:

• Kountze: $90,519, down 12.25%

• Lumberton: $588,194, down 7.83%

• Silsbee: $113,448, down 6.59%

• Sour Lake: $113,448, up 9.59%

In Orange County, all cities have a 1.5% tax rate, and the allocations are:

• Bridge City: $264,111, up 1.15%

• Orange: $762,500, down 15.03%

• Pine Forest: $13,142, up 6.27%

• Pinehurst: $70,636, down 9.98%

• Rose City: $16,956, down 24.03%

• Vidor: $402,027, down 11.31%

• West Orange: $208,928, up 4.42%

As for county allocations, Jefferson County (0.5%) received $4.854 million, up 26.44%, while Orange County (0.5%) received $817,743, down 13.97%.

Among special purpose districts, the following allocations are:

• Jefferson Co. Ast. District No. 4 (1%) $12,024, up 48.41%

• Jefferson Co. ESD No. 3 (1.5%): $99,422, up 35.40%

• Jefferson Co. ESD No. (1.5%): $125,918, up 24.64%

• Jefferson Co. ESD No. 4-A (0.5%): $5,868, up 23.04%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 1 (2%): $54,750, up $21.82%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 2 (2%): $124,955, down 9.19%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 3 (2%): $13,855, up 154.77%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 4 (2%): $15,816, down 20.80%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 5 (2%): $79,629, up 23.36%

• Hardin Co. ESD No. 6 (2%): $129,563, up 1.07%

• Orange Co. ESD No. 3 (1.5%): $47.984, up 54.22%

No transit districts in Southeast Texas receive monthly allocations.
