Beaumont’s evolving culinary landscape continued to bloom April 8 as Bon Vivant, a new wine bar and gourmet market in the Oaks Historic District, welcomed Opus One Winery of Napa Valley for a guided vertical tasting.
The event brought one of the world’s most respected wine producers to Southeast Texas.
Led by Opus One representative Chris Zimmerly, the educational tasting featured a curated selection of vintages spanning more than three decades, from 1990 to 2022. The program provided attendees with a structured exploration of how time, terroir and winemaking influence the development of a Bordeaux-style wine. Each tasting was paired with small bites curated to enhance the experience.
The event marked a first for Beaumont, expanding local access to internationally recognized producers and wine education typically found in larger metropolitan areas.
Bon Vivant, 2195 Calder Ave., is owned by Arianna Kucharski, a military veteran and a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Since opening in October 2025, Bon Vivant has focused on blending European-inspired retail and dining hospitality with ongoing wine education programming.
The business has also contributed more than $6,000 to local nonprofit organizations.
Opus One was founded through a partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. Since its inaugural vintage in 1979, the winery has produced a single Bordeaux-style blend each year and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic wines in the world.
Bon Vivant is open Tuesday through Saturday and does not require reservations. It offers more than 220 wines from around the world, grab-and-go food, and gourmet retail and kitchen selections.
The business hosts monthly educational events as part of its programming.
