The CVS store at 3890 Phelan Blvd. in Beaumont is closing, according to a text message sent out to customers.
The text message told customers that their accounts will be transfetted to the West End location at 2950 Dowlen Road.
In February 2024, CVS announced plans to close 46 stores because the locations were "underperforming." This past February, the store announced an additional 270 stores will close in 2025.
Between 2022 and 2024, the company closed 900 locations and opened 100 new stores.
The decisions are based on several factors, including population shifts, consumer buying patterns, store and pharmacy density, and community health needs. The company emphasized that the closures are a long-planned strategic move, not a reaction to industry pressures, according to a CVS spokesperson.
Despite closures, the company says 85% of Americans will still live within 10 miles of a CVS pharmacy.
The company is opening 30 new locations this year to better serve high-demand areas.
