Prime Architects, a veteran-owned architecture firm based out of Norman, Oklahoma, was recently awarded a project at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) in Beaumont.

According to Prime Architects Marketing Coordinator Melanie Barfield, the latest federal contract award from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) will allow the company to lead the design and engineering of a comprehensive fire detection system replacement at the FCC Beaumont. The project will replace the current fire alarm system with a state-of-the-art system, which will enhance safety and compliance across all facilities at the complex. The system reportedly offers faster detection, improved reliability, and centralized monitoring, enhancing emergency response capabilities.

The scope of work includes removal of the existing EST-3 systems, installation of a new system and ntegration of new fire alarm panels, annunciator panels, horn/strobe combos, smoke and heat detectors, carbon monoxide detection, and a UL-listed graphical monitoring system.

Barfield noted the project underscores Prime Architects’ expertise in federal infrastructure and life-safety systems, and its ongoing commitment to excellence in public sector design. Prime Architects has extensive past performance with the FBOP in Oklahoma and Texas.

FCC Beaumont is an integral part of the FBOP system of classified penal and correctional institutions. The complex consists of a minimum-security camp, a low-security institution, a medium-security institution, a high-security institution and an Administrative Services Operation (CAB) that provides various services to support the complex. The CAB was constructed and activated in 1996.

According to Barfield, Prime Architects is a collaborative, multidisciplinary architecture firm that transforms client visions into sustainable, functional, and cost-effective designs.

“We prioritize efficiency, sustainability and aesthetic excellence to ensure client satisfaction and to build lasting partnerships,” said Barfield.
