ExxonMobil Beaumont Polyethylene Plant welcomes new leader

With nearly 25 years of experience at ExxonMobil, Samantha Roberts said she hopes to enable her new Beaumont Polyethylene Plant team to continue to achieve strong results and further the site’s impact inside and outside the company.

Roberts, 47, stepped into her new role as manager of the Beaumont Polyethylene Plant (BPEP) in July, succeeding Josh Williams. She previously served as the Chemicals Process manager at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex downtown.

“I enjoy leading large organizations and applying my experience to set strategic direction,” Roberts said. “I am really enjoying meeting people at the site and understanding how I can help us collectively be successful in delivering our site and corporate strategy while maintaining safe, reliable operations and producing the products that enhance everyday life.”

A native of the Mobile area in Alabama, Roberts moved from Houston to Beaumont in 2024 as part of her prior role.

Roberts said the smaller town feel of Beaumont reminds her of where she grew up, creating a sense of connection she’s looking forward to strengthening in her new position.

“Living and working in Beaumont has felt like connecting back to my roots,” she said. “I’ve met a lot of wonderful people in Beaumont and continue to feel more and more connected with the community as time goes on. I’m excited to continue to engage with the community and build even stronger relationships through my involvement with United Way and educational outreach with the Beaumont Independent School District.”

Upon graduating from the University of Alabama in 2001, Roberts began her career at ExxonMobil as a chemical engineer at the Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant. Since then, she’s held multiple engineering, supervisory and business roles at the company’s facilities in Baytown, Houston and Beaumont areas.

“The company’s core values have always resonated with me personally,” she said. “Integrity, care, courage, excellence and resilience embody how I grew up and how I endeavor to live my life and lead in my job roles.”

As manager of the Beaumont Polyethylene Plant, Roberts will oversee a workforce of over 300 employees and contractors and an annual production of more than 2 billion pounds of advanced plastics essential to everyday life.

“This site has tremendous potential,” she said. “Living up to our potential is all about making progress with purpose. BPEP is already a key asset within our global polyethylene portfolio, and we have an opportunity to continue to improve our competitiveness and grow our significance.”

Roberts said she has found one common thread across every site she’s worked at and visited: the people of ExxonMobil are “amazingly talented and capable,” making it an easy choice to stay with the company.

“Our people make the difference,” she said. “The people are what make our company great. That’s why I have continued to be proud to work for ExxonMobil — our culture and our people.”
