Local executive wins prestigious award

Celanese Corporation Chairman, President and CEO Lori Ryerkerk, a Winnie resident, was recently chosen by her peers from around the world to receive one of the most coveted awards in the chemical industry, the 2022 Kavaler Award, making her the first woman ever to achieve the prestigious honor.

LU professor receives significant research grant

The American Chemical Society awarded Sylvestre Twagirayezu, assistant professor of chemistry, a $70,000 grant to develop an advanced analytical technique that could have a tremendous impact on the Southeast Texas petrochemical industry.
