Sept. 18, Worthey Enterprises, led by local businessman and community advocate Robert E. Worthey, conducted a groundbreaking of Eloy’s Neighborhood Market & Café, 365 North 3rd St. in Silsbee. The new venue blends an American café with a Hispanic meat market, according to a news release.

Worthey indicated the project represents more than a single business, it is the first step in “a broader revitalization effort designed to create jobs, boost local sales tax revenue, and energize the community.”

Worthey, owner of Wooden Pallets, said the groundbreaking carries special meaning as it coincides with his birthday.

“With Wooden Pallets, we’ve built success by providing opportunities,” said Worthey. “Now, with Eloy’s, I want to bring that same energy downtown, to create a gathering place, provide employment, and support a stronger local economy.”

Eloy’s Neighborhood Market & Café will specialize in authentic Hispanic meats and cultural foods while also offering familiar American favorites. From fresh-cut carne asada and traditional marinated selections to homestyle meals and classic café comfort dishes, Eloy’s advertises a showcase diversity, flavor and community spirit all under one roof.

Local companies, including McInnis Construction and Modern Concrete, are helping bring Eloy’s to life, touting a shared commitment to community-driven development and reinvestment in Silsbee’s historic downtown.

“Eloy’s is more than a neighborhood market or café, it’s the beginning of a new chapter for downtown Silsbee,” Worthey added. “It represents growth, renewal, and a bright future for our city. We want Eloy’s to be a place where families shop together, friends gather, and cultures connect.”
