According to Architectural Barriers Project permits from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), a number of permits have been granted in Lumberton and other Southeast Texas cities.
Chipotle will build a new restaurant at 118 S. LHS Drive (U.S. 69) in Lumberton. The contractor is D4 Construction, and the estimated cost is $1.2 million for a new dark shell building (2,385 square feet) and $670,000 for interior build-out. The restaurant will be located next to the Baptist Outpatient Center.
Also in Lumberton, Vintage Vibe will renovate retail space in a small strip center next to Yummy’s Buffet at 1368 U.S. 96 (Main Street).
In November 2025, 7 Brew Coffee — currently constructing a 541-square-foot prefabricated drive-through building — received a TDLR permit for a $1.25 million facility at 119 S. LHS Drive, next to Starbucks.
Neches Federal Credit Union was granted a permit to reconfigure its drive-thru to allow for installation of two new ITM machines. The estimated cost is $2.98 million, with a Dec. 31 completion date.
Pure FitClub secured a TDLR permit to build a gym and parking lot at 6190 Kerrville Lane, behind Altus Lumberton Hospital. The estimated cost is $2.5 million, with completion expected in March 2027.
In Silsbee, PNC Bank received a permit for a $1 million renovation project at 100 East Avenue G. The completion date is January 2027. The scope of work includes selective interior renovation of the existing bank building and updates to drive-thru teller lanes across the street.
Walmart, 1100 U.S. 96 in Silsbee, received a permit to remodel its 155,000-square-foot store, along with an 8,000-square-foot expansion. Completion is set for November, with an estimated cost of $5.497 million.
Jefferson County
In March, Doggett Ford, 3355 Eastex Freeway in Beaumont, received a permit for a $5 million renovation covering 14,353 square feet, including the showroom, customer lounge and administrative offices.
Bishop Enterprises, 7385 Fannett Road in Beaumont, secured a permit March 5 for construction of a 20,000-square-foot metal building, estimated at $1.591 million.
A permit was granted March 25 for a Tesla electric vehicle charging station at 17517 Interstate 10 in Beaumont. The project is estimated at $300,000 for a 2,000-square-foot facility.
Two additional permits were granted for electric vehicle charging stations in Beaumont, each estimated at $600,000. One, at 1495 Concord Road, will include 6,000 square feet with eight parking spaces and four chargers. Construction is set to begin April 3, with completion scheduled for Dec. 3. The second station, at 6710 Eastex Freeway, will include 1,600 square feet with eight parking spaces and four chargers. The contractor is DRC Construction LLC of Beaumont.
Classic Acura, 1000 Interstate 10 North in Beaumont, received a permit March 16 for a 9,089-square-foot addition to its existing building. The estimated cost is $100,000, with construction starting May 4 and completion expected in February 2027.
Tradehome Shoes was granted a permit for renovations covering more than 3,100 square feet at Parkdale Mall. Completion is set for May 22, with an estimated cost of $80,000.
Bar 723 secured a permit to finish out 3,600 square feet, including interior bar construction, restrooms, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, as well as ADA accessibility upgrades. The estimated cost is $75,000, with completion set for May 25.
Lamar Institute of Technology secured a permit for a more than 8,460-square-foot renovation of its Automotive Maintenance Facility at 4075 South Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The estimated cost is $1.9 million, with completion set for August.
Gilbert Building Partnership Ltd. received a permit to renovate the Gilbert Building at 330 Bowie St. in Beaumont. The project covers more than 26,960 square feet for retail tenant spaces on the first floor and offices on upper floors. The estimated cost is $5.5 million, with completion set Dec. 31.
Orange County
Neches Federal Credit Union received a permit in March for construction of a single drive-thru lane with an ITM kiosk, including site work, paving and lighting. The estimated cost is $183,000.
March 17, Vidor ISD received a permit for a $30 million expansion at the high school, 500 Orange St., adding 67,000 square feet of classroom space. Construction is set to begin May 1, with completion estimated for Aug. 1, 2027.
In February, Bridge City ISD secured a permit for construction of a new $35 million performing arts center at the high school. Completion is scheduled for July 31, 2027.
