The city of Beaumont invites the public to participate in a discussion about the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2022. The budget includes an additional $6 million in property taxes.

A public hearing is set for Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 1:30 p.m. for all interested citizens of the city of Beaumont. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, 801 Main St. in Beaumont. According to the city, the purpose of the hearing is discussion of the Fiscal Year 2022 Proposed Budget and Capital Program. These documents may be examined on weekdays at City Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the office of the City Clerk or on the city’s website at beaumonttexas.gov. All interested citizens will have the opportunity to give written and oral comment.

This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $6 million or 8.99%, and of that amount $1,005,852 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year. A tax rate of $.705/$100 of assessed valuation is proposed, which is a decrease in the tax rate by $0.050/$100 of assessed valuation.
