Port of Beaumont staff delivers relief supplies to Lake Charles

Representatives from the Port of Beaumont delivered more than $3,000 worth of supplies to the Port of Lake Charles on Sept. 10, the local port reported. The donations, contributed by Port of Beaumont staff members, Cooper/Ports America, Coastal Welding Supply and Periodpower Pantry, included air conditioning units, water, fans, tarps, non-perishable food items and other post-storm essentials.

Upon their arrival, the Port of Beaumont team was met by the Port of Lake Charles Port Director and CEO Richert Self and Director of Operations Todd Henderson, who introduced their recovery staff.

Port Director Chris Fisher, Director of Trade Development Ernest Bezdek and Maintenance Technician Larry Vickery delivered the supplies and noted that the community needs to continue to fight for Lake Charles.

“Lake Charles has a long road to recovery,” said Director of Trade Development Ernest Bezdek. “We’ve seen in the past that once hurricane-impacted areas fall off the radar of peripheral communities, the resources stop coming and the sense of urgency in rebuilding that community is lost. We cannot let Lake Charles fall of the radar. Beaumont and surrounding communities need to continue sending aid, support and resources, as long as we are able to.”
