Local community bank Texas First Bank announced Sept. 3 the hiring of John Morrell as Regional Loan President for Southeast Texas. As Regional Loan President, Morrell will be tasked with expanding the Texas First Bank presence in the Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange markets.

“We are excited to have John join our Texas First family. His banking experience and roots in the area make him a great fit for this new position,” stated Chris Doyle, President and CEO of Texas First Bank.

Doyle added, “We have been in Port Arthur, just off Highway 69 and Nederland Avenue, for over 10 years now and love the area. Over the next few years, we hope to expand our presence across the Golden Triangle, and we look forward to having John at the helm of this new focus.”

Morrell joins the bank with over 12 years of commercial banking experience in Southeast Texas, most recently as Senior Vice President at BBVA USA in Beaumont. A Port Neches native, Morrell has a bachelor’s degree from TCU and an MBA from Lamar University. He lives in Beaumont with his wife Brianne and seven children: Rocco, Luca, Maria, Clara, Vito, Carlo, and Gianni. He is active in the Catholic Church and serves on the Boards of the Beaumont Children’s Museum, Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation, Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas, Latin Mass Society of Beaumont and Beaumont Main Street.

“The most enjoyable aspect of my work is the opportunity to work with and help a wide array of businesses and people. In any given week, I may have meetings with businesses ranging from industrial fabrication and health care to commercial real estate and car dealerships,” says Morrell. “Texas First Bank is a great, local community bank with deep roots and strong core values. Relationships matter. They’re dedicated to helping individuals and businesses of all sizes, and I’m excited to bring that enthusiasm and passion for customers to Beaumont.”
