Orange County Disaster Rebuild has reportedly partnered with World Renew Disaster Response Services to find individuals with unmet needs resulting from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017 and Tropical Storm Imelda in September 2019. World Renew will have volunteers in Orange County from Monday, Jan. 20 to Friday, Jan. 31. Residents affected by these storms who need additional assistance to recover can talk to a volunteer at one of the walk-in centers in the area.
“This is your chance to request help,” reads a news release from World Renew. “Unmet needs will be recorded and reported to your local recovery organization. Any assistance you have received through FEMA is not contingent upon, nor is it impacted in any way by completing a survey with the World Renew team. This assessment is not connected to any aid received from FEMA and allows your local recovery groups to follow up with families and individuals needing construction work, spiritual or emotional care, urgent medical needs or basic household items replaced.”
Residents planning on visiting a walk-in center should bring their FEMA ID numbers if they have one. They can also call (409) 745-9719 with questions.
The following locations will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Jan. 20-24 and Jan. 27-30; from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Jan. 25; and from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Jan. 31:
Orange County Convention & Expo Center, 11475 FM 1442 in Orange, and Nehemiah’s Vision office, 460 Main St. in Vidor.
World Renew also stated that volunteers would be working door-to-door in the affected areas from about 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. during each week. All volunteers should be wearing dark green shirts and carrying identification.
