Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas (BHSET) is welcoming a new leader this spring in that of incoming Chief Executive Officer Justin Doss, MBA, FACHE. BHSET Board of Directors announced that Doss will begin the new role on May 3.

Doss, the former President and CEO of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, is reputedly a “progressive and accomplished health care executive for more than 17 years, … committed to financial and operational health care performance for long-term growth and service to local communities.” At CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, a six-campus system with 1,000 beds, Doss was brought in during tough times – and worked to deliver financial turnaround for the health system that had was in peril.

Prior to his stint with CHRISTUS, Doss served as CEO for The Medical Center of Plano, CEO of Blake Medical Center in Florida, and administrator at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and Stone Oak Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

“The BHSET Board is excited to have Justin Doss join Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas as its next CEO,” a release March 23 announced. “Justin brings us a history of leadership at larger for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals where he has demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively while growing those organizations. We believe that Justin is well qualified and committed to carrying on the Sacred Work of Baptist Hospitals.”

“I’m looking forward to joining the talented and committed physicians, leaders, clinicians and support teams at BHSET, and serving Beaumont and surrounding communities,” Doss shared on the announcement of his impending new role and the move he, along with wife Amy and their three children, look forward to making the move to the Beaumont area.
