The city of Beaumont has named two assistant city managers, city staff reported Nov. 8.

Christopher S. Boone will transition from his position as the city’s director of planning and community development to assistant city manager of development services. The city has selected June Ellis to serve as the assistant city manager of administration.

Boone has served as both interim city manager and director of the planning and community development for the city of Beaumont. He started working with Beaumont in 2006 after serving as the public works director for the city of West Orange for four years and as deputy director of land use administration for the city of Mobile, Alabama, for six years. Chris has a master’s degree in urban planning from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Alabama. His new role begins Nov. 14.

June Ellis is currently the city administrator of Haskell, Texas. He has experience in Buda, Pearland, Sugar Land, Missouri City and served for 10 years in the city of Detroit, Michigan. He is certified in economic development and finance. He will begin his role with Beaumont on or before Jan. 3, 2023.

City Manager Kenneth R. Williams remarked, “Both men bring a wealth of experience from various segments of the municipality. Their skill sets complement each other, and collectively, we’re excited to serve the citizens in an even greater capacity.”
