The Chevron Phillips Auction for Buckner will make its virtual debut Thursday, Sept. 24, starting at noon. Featuring high-end auction items and raffle prizes, the event benefiting Buckner Children and Family Services of Southeast Texas is a pandemic-friendly replacement for the annual Chevron Phillips Charity Golf Tournament and its kick-off party silent and live auctions. The virtual auction will last five days, closing at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28.

The online auction includes more than 100 items, such as generators, STIHL chainsaw, beach house getaway, autographed sports collectables, local business advertising packages, Sony PlayStation 4, Kendra Scott jewelry and more.

Virtual raffle tickets may be purchased online for $5 each or $20 for five. Raffle prizes include a Traeger Pro 575 WiFIRE pellet grill, Apple iPad (32 GB, WiFi), $500 free gasoline, and $500 shopping spree. Also available online is the ability to play Split-the-Pot for a chance to win half of the jackpot.

This year would have marked the 22nd anniversary of the golf tournament. Last year’s event set a record by raising $274,466 for Buckner. To date, the Chevron Phillips Charity Golf Tournament has raised more than $3.4 million to help Buckner meet the needs of vulnerable children through programs like Buckner Foster Care and Adoption, Family and Youth Success (FAYS), emergency shelter and assessment center services, Buckner FYi Center, Buckner Project HOPES and Buckner Fatherhood Effect.

“In response to the pandemic, all of our programs quickly pivoted the way we serve children and families by adopting virtual methods to connect and help. It was only natural to take the same persevering spirit and apply it to our annual fundraiser with Chevron Phillips,” said Laura May, the director of Buckner Children and Family Services in Southeast Texas.

“We hope people have fun over the next five days bidding on wonderful items and knowing that their money will make a large impact on helping the most vulnerable right here in Southeast Texas – and hopefully next year we can get everyone back out on the golf course,” added May.
