Governor's office certifies Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas for another two years

Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas announced they received their recertification from the Office of the Governor on Wednesday, June 24. This two-year certificate extends through 2022.

The Office of the Governor has four basic requirements for Crime Stoppers organizations to maintain their certifications: 1) board members and law enforcement liaisons attend Crime Stopper and Campus Crime Stopper conferences and show proof of continuing educations hours; 2) two years of accurate Probation Fee and Repayment Reports; 3) quarterly statistical reports for the preceding two years; and 4) two years of financial reports that conform to the best accounting practices and standards identified in the Business Organization Code. Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas submitted documentation that supported these requirements and has been approved for recertification.

Crime Stoppers is a civilian nonprofit organization devoted to operating an anonymous tip line about fugitives and/criminal activity. It is based on the idea that “someone other than the criminal has information that can help solve a crime.” It breaks down the largest obstacles in getting people to provide information – fear of reprisal and apathy. Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas offers cash rewards for tips leading to the arrest of suspected perpetrators, and guarantees that all tips remain completely anonymous.
