In the first of many corporate partnership announcements, Lamar Institute of Technology’s Workforce Development recently welcomed Hendrix Precision Maintenance Services LLC to the college’s training hub for Southeast Texas industry. According to the company, it provides unique, hands-on training to equip maintenance teams with skills and implementation strategies.

This partnership will also help provide valuable upskill training and certifications, and help mediate budgetary travel costs, according to Dr. Byron J. Prince, LIT’s Manager of Corporate Partnerships for Workforce Development.

“This is not just about training local industry,” Dr. Prince said. “We are now in a better position to offer multiple certifications attached to a degree for our students. The goal is always to increase students’ employability once they leave LIT.”

Anthony DeSimone, Hendrix’s VP of Sales and Marketing, said, “Hendrix Precision believes in the importance of community college/industry partnerships. A key component of a successful workforce development program is a strong relationship between the college and local employers.

“Lamar Institute is backed by world-class teaching facilities and outstanding faculty, comprehensive student support and strong partnerships with employers, so together, we can expand our reach and provide innovative teaching and learning for tomorrow’s workforce. We are proud to partner with and bring our Precision Maintenance Training program to LIT!”
