Lamar Institute of Technology dedicated the Emerson Coldwater Lab Building and Emerson Central Control Center on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in the Petrochemical and Advanced Technology Center (PATC).

At the dedication, guests were welcome and introductions were made, followed by a roundtable discussion led by representatives from LIT, Emerson and Scallon Controls. Then, reps took guests on a tour and dedicated the facilities.

Both facilities are touted as offering more hands-on opportunities for Process Operating and Instrumentation Technology students, while providing local businesses/industry with a greater pool of workforce-ready employees for their growing demands. In 2020, an upgrade to LIT’s Process Operating unit was completed, thanks to a donation of over $1.1 million in automation and technologies by Emerson and Scallon Controls.

The Emerson Central Control Center is located in the PATC building, while the Coldwater Lab Building is between PATC and the Eagles’ Nest.
