Statement from CHRISTUS regarding facilities and scheduled procedures as Hurricane Laura approaches:
"We continue to closely monitor the progress of now Hurricane Laura as it intensifies across the Gulf of Mexico. As expected, Laura strengthened and is expected to make landfall to Southeast Texas or Southwest Louisiana late Wednesday/early/Thursday morning as a major hurricane.
"CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System continues to take all necessary precautions, in advance of the storms, to protect our patients, our Associates and physicians and secure our facilities. Now more than ever, it is vital we ensure we limit the number of people in and visiting our facilities. Effective at end of business (Aug. 25), we will be closing our campuses to ALL VISITORS… No visitors, including essential visitors will be allowed in our facilities. Requests for exceptions must receive nurse leadership approval."
CHRISTUS has ceased all elective or non-emergent surgeries as of 12 p.m. Aug. 25.
