The Salvation Army Thrift Store held its final sale April 20 and 21 at 4925 College Street in Beaumont, clearing out all inventory as well as some merchandising stands and shelves.

According to Salvation Army Major Kenneth Fagan, a review of the finances and “after careful consideration the difficult decision to shut the store was voted on by the Salvation Army board of directors.”

“Over the last five years, revenue from Thrift Store sales have declined,” Fagan shared. “As overhead now exceeds revenue from sales, the Salvation Army cannot continue to operate the Thrift Store. This has not been an easy decision to make. We appreciate and thank our loyal customers for their patronage over the years.”

Fagan shared that all Thrift Store employees will move to other positions within the Salvation Army of Beaumont operations.
