The Port Arthur Sertoma Club is “aiming” to raise funds for the nonprofit during its ninth annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser at the One in One Hundred Club coming up on Oct. 3.

Sick of being stuck inside and looking for a fun outdoor activity? Sign up for Sertoma’s upcoming Clay Shoot to be a part of the action and fire away for a good cause. Sertoma stands for “Service to Mankind,” and the organization’s “primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders." All money raised at the clay shoot stays local, Sertoma reports, providing hearing aids for area residents, Speech and Hearing scholarships for Lamar students in Beaumont and Port Arthur and numerous other donations.

Sertoma welcomes men, women and teens “from novice to expert” to join the clay shoot. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at One in One Hundred, located at 1225 FM 42 in Lumberton, and the tournament begins at 9 a.m. Registration is $100 per person, and teams consist of four shooters. Shooters are responsible for their own ammo. Food and drinks are provided for entrants, and guests can purchase a meal for $10. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Alton Borel at (409) 718-8309 or alttoneborel@gmail.com for more information. Visit the Port Arthur Sertoma Club Facebook page for the registration form.
