Silsbee debate students shine

Silsbee debate students performed well at a regional meet over the weekend.

Silsbee High School Debate students performed well during the 2020 Region 5 UIL Regional Students Congress Virtual meet on Saturday, Nov. 7, making their cases and proving they belong in the upcoming state competition early next year.

Emma Scott-Wellman placed first to be crowned the Division 4A Champion. Nicole Duke placed second overall and was named Outstanding Presiding Officer for Division 4A. Anthony Taylor ranked fifth overall in Division 4A and will serve as the second alternate to the state UIL meet.

Duke and Scott-Wellman will both compete in the 2021 UIL State Student Congress meet in January.
