The 44th annual Taste of the Triangle brought flavor, flair, and philanthropy together for Fat Tuesday (Feb. 17), as more than 1,400 guests gathered into the Beaumont Civic Center to sample the very best of Southeast Texas cuisine.
Hosted by the Southeast Texas Chapter of the Texas Restaurant Association, the sold-out event once again proved to be one of the region’s most anticipated culinary celebrations.
Thirty-four food vendors participated, each paying a booth fee and donating approximately 2,000 three-ounce samples of their featured dish — a significant commitment, particularly for the many locally owned independent restaurants that represent a majority of participants, according to Lauren Bebeau, event publicist.
In addition to the food booths, beverage service was provided by Del Papa Distributing Co. and Giglio Distributing Co., with specialty offerings from Buckstin Brewing Co., which brews its own alcohol, and Republic National Distributing Co., which brought a curated selection of wine brands.
Entertainment was provided by Sugartown, and iRule Dance Studio’s annual appearance added high-energy performances to the festive Mardi Gras atmosphere. Gator Country also joined the entertainment, bringing an extra element of local flair to the event.
After patrons tasted and voted, the 2026 award winners were:
• Best Food Booth: Hearsay Gastro Lounge
• Second Place: Taco Mex Fire
• Third Place: Super Antojo Bakery
• Best Decorated Booth: Lupe Tortilla
“This recognition reflects the discipline, creativity, and consistency of our culinary and service teams,” Hearsay leadership said of the honor. “Events like Taste of the Triangle are about showing up prepared, representing your brand with pride, and delivering quality without compromise. We are honored to be recognized among such strong peers.”
According to organizers, this year’s event raised approximately $50,000 — funds that will be reinvested directly into the community. The stated mission of the Southeast Texas Restaurant Association (SETRA) is centered on education and philanthropy. Proceeds support scholarships for students in Lamar University’s Hospitality Management and culinary programs, the Texas Restaurant Association’s Education Foundation, and educational and professional development initiatives for the Texas Chefs Association.
SETRA will donate $20,000 to the Lamar University Culinary Arts program to award scholarships to students under the direction of professor and chef Casey Gates.
SETRA’s roots date back to the 1950s, when restaurant owners united to raise money to keep businesses operating during union strikes in the area.
Beyond scholarships, SETRA has historically supported the broader community in the past, including purchasing livestock from Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) of Beaumont to donate to local food banks and has contributed to initiatives such as Meals on Wheels.
