Port Arthur LNG announces full tuition scholarship program for Southeast Texas students

Application deadline is April 15

Port Arthur LNG announced March 5 the launch of the Pathways to Port Arthur LNG Scholarship Fund, a new scholarship initiative designed to expand education access and strengthen the future workforce of Southeast Texas. Established in collaboration with the Foundation for Southeast Texas, the fund will provide ten students graduating from high schools in Jefferson and Orange Counties with up to four years of full tuition, books and fees as they pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) on an annual basis.
The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors in Jefferson County and Orange County who plan to attend Lamar University, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College Port Arthur, Lamar State College Orange, Golden Triangle Empowerment Center, Pathway Vocational Academy, Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas or the Associated Builders and Contractors Training Center.
“By removing financial barriers and expanding access to high quality education, Port Arthur LNG is committed to building the future of Southeast Texas through the next generation of leaders, innovators and problem solvers,” said William Gurrola, Sempra Infrastructure vice president and general manager of Port Arthur LNG. “This scholarship fund reflects our long-term belief of increasing economic opportunity, and will help students pursue their goals, build their careers and support local families to help our region thrive for decades.”
“This new scholarship will help students pursue their goals and build rewarding careers right here at home,” said Mellie Bevilacqua, Foundation for Southeast Texas executive director. “We are proud to work with the Sempra Infrastructure and Port Arthur LNG teams on this transformative investment in our community.”
