Port Arthur Police Department is currently investigating a body found outside a game room in the 1300 block of Ninth Avenue.
According to a release, at approximately 6:38 a.m., Port Arthur Police Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Ninth Avenue to perform a welfare check on a male subject, later identified as Edward Benton, 82, “sleeping on the sidewalk.”
When officers arrived, they found Benton deceased.
During the investigation, surveillance video was obtained and foul play is not suspected. Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam was contacted and an autopsy was ordered.
