The Lutcher Theater has announced the opening of their 43rd season with “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.,” an electrifying tribute celebrating the legendary Aretha Franklin. The concert will play for one night only on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at lutcher.org.

Entergy Texas employees assigned to the Chevyland Service Center near I-10 in Beaumont will soon have a new facility. The Texas Department of Transportation plans to acquire the property where the service center is located for the I-10/US 69 interchange project.

The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System has confirmed Sidney E. Valentine, Ph.D., as president of Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont. Dr. Valentine was named sole finalist for the position last month following a national search. He will assume office Aug. 16.

Governor Greg Abbott announced Aug. 5 that he had appointed Kathleen Jackson to the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) for a term set to expire on September 1, 2027, and on Aug. 9, the Beaumont resident was joined by her son and daughter as she took the oath of office.
