Beaumont church, Port Arthur sports complex granted permits on multi-million-dollar projects
Several multimillion-dollar construction and renovation projects received permits in Jefferson and Orange counties during late April and May, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Here is a list of projects that received permits in late April and May:
Jefferson County
May 28 — GT Sports Complex, 10665 W. Port Arthur Road in Port Arthur, received a permit for construction of a new 14,300-square-foot metal building to serve as an indoor soccer facility and event space. The estimated cost is $4 million, with a completion date of Dec. 30.
May 19 — Edward Jones Real Estate, located in the Hamby Retail Center at 3650 N. Major Drive, Suites B and C, in Beaumont, received a permit for a $600,000 new construction project totaling 2,300 square feet. The completion date is Dec. 1.
May 18 — Interstate Batteries, 5570 College St. in Beaumont, secured a permit for a new ramp, entry door and sink in its shop. The estimated cost is $100,000, with an Aug. 1 completion date.
May 15 — First Baptist Church of Beaumont, 3739 N. Major Drive, was granted a permit for a new 20,000-square-foot sanctuary with an estimated cost of $6.3 million. Completion is scheduled for May 2027. The new building will be connected to an existing 25,000-square-foot church structure.
May 5 — TotalEnergies Port Arthur Refinery received a permit for construction of a 1,440-square-foot modular operator shelter consisting of three steel modules at 7600 32nd St. in Port Arthur. The estimated cost is $1.2 million, with a Dec. 1 completion date.
Also on May 5, Doggett Heavy Machinery Services, 2205 W. Florida Ave. in Beaumont, received a permit to renovate approximately 21,000 square feet of an existing building into a John Deere dealership with offices, a sales area, a parts warehouse, locker rooms, shop work bays and restrooms. The estimated cost is $4.2 million, with a completion date of January 2027.
Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7, 4401 9th Ave. in Port Arthur, secured a permit for construction of a 7,254-square-foot shelter-in-place emergency operations center. The estimated cost is $2.45 million, with completion scheduled for August 2027.
April 30 — Third Coast Bank, 3200 Jimmy Johnson Blvd. in Port Arthur, was granted a permit for a new 7,636-square-foot, two-story bank. The estimated cost is $1.5 million, and the completion date is Feb. 17, 2027.
April 29 — Courtyard and Element by Marriott Beaumont, 2355 Interstate 10 in Beaumont, received a permit for a $4.8 million renovation project. The work includes exterior renovations and guest room renovations to meet Marriott brand standards. The project encompasses 223,803 square feet and is scheduled for completion June 1, 2027.
Also on April 29, Toastique Beaumont, 6755 Phelan Blvd. in Beaumont, was granted a permit to renovate a 2,175-square-foot leased space for a Toastique Toast and Juice Bar. The estimated cost is $490,000, with an Aug. 31 completion date.
April 24 — J.P. Construction received a permit for a $200,000 new construction project involving a 5,500-square-foot building at 2755 FM 365 West in Port Arthur. The completion date is July 31.
Orange County
May 13 — LivSmart Studios by Hilton, 6607 Interstate 10 East in Orange, received a permit for a new 75,000-square-foot hotel. The estimated cost is $3 million, with a completion date of September 2028.
May 11 — Dollar General, 12726 Highway 87 in Orange, was granted a permit for a new 8,742-square-foot store with an estimated cost of more than $1.48 million. Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 1, with a completion date of Feb. 28, 2027.
