LSCO faculty earn effective college instruction credentials

Two Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) faculty members each recently earned a teaching excellence credential from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), the college reported Nov. 9.

Lamar State College Orange announced Nov. 2 that the college has recently received nearly $840,000 in grant awards from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

ExxonMobil announced Oct. 25 that the National Labor Relations Board has scheduled a vote on whether or not to decertify United Steelworkers (USW) Local 13-243 amid failing contract negotiations. If workers vote to decertify, they will no longer be represented by the Union.

A Lufkin contractor’s failure to assemble a crane boom properly caused the crane to collapse onto a passing vehicle on Interstate 10 near Beaumont, killing the two occupants in April 2021, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reported Oct. 14.

United Steelworkers (USW) Local 13-243 voted Oct. 19 not to ratify ExxonMobil's latest proposal in contract negotiations, extending the ongoing lockout, which is well into its fifth month. USW announced the results following the vote.
