Beaumont native set to guide Chamber

The Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce has announced Amy Lovoi as the new president and chief economic officer (CEO), effective Feb. 1.

Lovoi replaced interim President and CEO Mary Poole, who stepped into the role Oct. 1, 2024, following the resignation of Steve Ahlenius, who is currently president and CEO of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.

A welcome reception was Feb. 3 at the at the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Board Room.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to lead in the town where I grew up. Beaumont has shaped who I am, and it is an honor to be the president and CEO of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce,” said Lovoi. “I am eager to unite people and drive growth that cultivates a healthy economic and social environment throughout Southeast Texas.”

As a Beaumont native, she has a rich tapestry of professional and personal experiences and steps into her role with a deep love for the community and a clear vision for its future.

Her journey to the prestigious role atop the metropolitan Chamber is rooted in her Beaumont heritage. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, she honed her business acumen through Lovoi & Sons Pharmacies, Inc., a family-owned business that has been a cornerstone of the community since 1932.

“My experience with our family business led me to continue in business for the last 35 years,” Lovoi said, reflecting on her career. “I’ve worked with both small businesses and large corporations, and my roles have always revolved around building and fostering relationships.”

Lovoi holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Leadership from Lamar University which complements her professional expertise. Despite career opportunities that took her around the globe with leadership positions in national and international supply chain management, she returned to her hometown during the COVID-10 pandemic, embracing the chance to work and contribute to the community that shaped her.

Lovoi’s enthusiasm for the Chamber is palpable as she steps into the role of as president and CEO.

“This position allows me to use my business knowledge and passion for our community,” she said. “Growing up in Beaumont, I’ve seen its potential, and I’m eager to help the chamber grow and make Southeast Texas a destination of choice.”

Lovoi’s vision for the Chamber is both ambitious and grounded in collaboration. Her stated the first priority is to listen and learn, and is seated in building and maintaining connections.

“My goal is to meet all our members, plan strategically and align priorities to seize growth opportunities,” she explained.

With experience volunteering for organizations like the Neches River Festival, Symphony of Southeast Texas, Lamar University, and the Texas Forestry Association, Lovoi’s dedication to inclusivity and community building is tantamount to progress, she shared.

When asked about untapped opportunities for the Chamber, Lovoi emphasized her commitment to “research and outreach.”

“I plan to go out into the community, meet with members and nonmembers, educate them on what we provide, and get their ideas,” she said. “Being inclusive is key to our success.”

Lovoi said her approach to leadership is centered on collaboration, and she intends to work closely with local organizations, government agencies and businesses to achieve shared goals.

“I will be out in the community full force,” she said. “Being present and available is important. I’m here to listen, learn and help.”

Lovoi stressed the importance of tracking progress and setting key initiatives to ensure diverse voices and perspectives are represented in the Chamber’s work.

Looking ahead

Lovoi’s career achievements are many, but she holds her family’s business legacy close to her heart.

“Maintaining a family-owned company and growing it while staying relevant in the community has taught me so much. That experience will undoubtedly guide me in my role at the chamber,” she said.

“As Amy prepares to assume her new role on Feb. 1, the Chamber’s Board of Directors is equally enthusiastic,” said Board Chairman Craig Escamilla.

He praised Lovoi for her blend of business experience and commitment to Beaumont.

“Her impressive portfolio of service and genuine love for the community make her the perfect fit for leading the Chamber,” Escamilla added.
