For Connie Tilton, working for ExxonMobil is more than just a job — it’s a lifetime career.
As she begins her new role as the ExxonMobil Beaumont Area Public & Government Affairs manager, Tilton brings more than 30 years of experience in community and relationship building, which she is eager to employ in Beaumont.
“The growth opportunities, the commitment to excellence, and the ability to make a meaningful impact are what drew me in,” Tilton said. “I wanted to be part of something that aligned with my values and gave me a chance to contribute to something bigger than myself.”
Tilton officially began her new role Oct. 1.
She previously served as the Socioeconomic manager for ExxonMobil’s Baytown operations and has been with the company since 1992.
“I’m excited to get to know the Beaumont community and build new relationships, and I’m truly looking forward to working with the people, especially my team,” she said. “There’s something incredibly rewarding about collaborating with dedicated individuals who care deeply about our work and impact.”
Raised in Baytown, where ExxonMobil has operated for over a century, Tilton said she appreciates the similarity in Beaumont that the company is not just a major employer but also a respected part of the community.
“Beaumont is rich in history and has a strong sense of community,” she said. “There’s a unique blend of industry and culture here that really stands out. But what I’ve come to appreciate most are the people — their pride in the city, their generosity, and the way they welcome newcomers.”
As a leader, Tilton is guided by the servant leadership philosophy, “putting people first and leading with empathy, integrity, and purpose.”
She is also passionate about developing others, helping individuals recognize their strengths and stretch beyond their comfort zones to achieve their goals.
“Leadership, to me, is not about titles or authority; it’s about influence, accountability, and creating an environment where people feel valued and empowered to succeed,” she said.
Outside of work, Tilton prioritizes spending time with her family. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a weekend adventure, those moments together are the most meaningful, she said.
“It’s fun to discover local gems, try new foods, and experience different cultures,” she said. “Those experiences help me recharge and stay personally and professionally inspired.”
Above all, Tilton is excited for what lies ahead for her team and Beaumont.
“It’s been a joy meeting people in the community, and I’m looking forward to deepening those connections as I settle into my new role,” she said. “I truly appreciate the warm welcome as I transition into this new chapter.”
