Do you have family relics or other cherished artifacts that stay in a box in the back corner of your attic? Or how about family photos with faces that you need help identifying? Well, here’s your chance to learn exactly how to preserve and digitize those records so they can live on for generations to come!

The Tyrrell Historical Library is hosting the first ever Family Archives Workshop, where you can learn everything you need to know about preserving, organizing, and digitizing historical artifacts like photographs, memorabilia, letters and film.

This is a crash course on starting your own family archive led by a local Library Archivist and Assistant Archivist, and will be followed with a Q&A, a take-home printed resource guide compiled by our Library staff, and a tour of the Tyrrell Historical Library and Archive. All you have to bring is your questions!

Whether you are already your family’s historian or you’re just starting your genealogical journey, the event promises to teach you something new! It is a completely free workshop open to the public, and will be at the Tyrrell Historical Library. 695 Pearl St. in Beaumont, on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Space is limited, so prior registration is required. To register, call (409) 833-2759 or click here: https://fb.me/e/2hKM6lmiQ.
