Momentum continues for Texas labor force, job count

Texas added 19,700 nonfarm jobs in December 2025 to reach a total of 14,341,000 positions.Over the year, the state added 132,500 jobs for an annual nonfarm growth rate of 0.9%, outpacing the national growth rate by half a percentage point.

Texas state sales tax revenue totals $4.5 billion in November

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock recently reported state sales tax revenue totaled $4.5 billion in November, 5.4% more than in November 2024. The majority of November sales tax revenue is based on sales made in October and remitted to the agency in November.

TWC welcomes new chair, commissioner representing the public

Gov. Greg Abbott has named Joe Esparza as chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the agency announced leading into October. Abbott also appointed Brent Connett as TWC’s new Commissioner Representing the Public, for a term set to expire Feb. 1, 2031.
