Lamar State College Orange and Lamar State College Port Arthur will conduct their Summer I semesters exclusively online as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The colleges’ Summer I semesters run from June 1 to July 6, and include both technical and general education studies. LSCO and LSCPA administrators decided to move their Spring face-to-face classes to online instruction in late March, and both are completing the semester in that online modality.

“It only makes sense to be diligent in protecting our students, faculty and staff from the coronavirus the best we can,” LSCPA President Dr. Betty Reynard said regarding the Summer I decision.

“Everyone has been remarkably cooperative during the Spring semester in keeping everything moving forward,” LSCO President Dr. Thomas Johnson said. “We will award degrees and certificates on time thanks to the hard work and dedication of our employees and our students.”

Executive committees for each campus will continue to monitor the coronavirus pandemic as they determine the best path to take for additional summer semesters and the upcoming Fall semester.
