A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 309,053 visitors to Big Thicket National Preserve in 2020 spent $20.3 million in communities near the park. According to NPS, that spending supported 256 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $26.7 million.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar June 8 announced his certification of Senate Bill 1, the general appropriations act that was approved by both houses during the recently gaveled regular session of the 87th Texas Legislature. The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott. SB 1 appropriates $248.
