Texas Workforce Commission reports ‘slight decrease’ in employment

In February, the seasonally adjusted Texas unemployment rate was 6.9%, up from 6.8% in January 2020. Texas lost 27,500 total nonagricultural jobs over the month, the first decrease in ten months. Private sector employment moved in the same direction with a decrease of 19,300 positions for the month.

The Board of Directors for The Southeast Texas Food Bank announced March 15 that, after an extensive search, they have named Barbara Newhouse as President and CEO of the organization. The vision of the Food Bank is to eliminate hunger and inadequate nutrition in Southeast Texas.
