The city of Port Neches provided residents information and recommendations, including a boil water notice, Aug. 27 following Hurricane Laura’s impact in the early morning hours. According to the city, “Today the city crews will be removing limbs from our roads to allow access.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported the the Rainbow and Veterans bridges that connect Port Arthur to Bridge City have reopened following closures due to Hurricane Laura.  DPS urges motorists to be cautious if they must travel at this time, according to a release at about 10:50 a.m.

H-E-B reports several local stores are closed until further notice to assess damage from Hurricane Laura. The company released the following information at about 9 a.m. on Aug. 27: "Store hours and operations (UPDATED 8/27) "The following stores remain closed until further notice.

Entergy Texas is finalizing storm preparations ahead of an intensifying Hurricane Laura, which is now forecast to make landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border late tonight or early tomorrow as a destructive Category 4 hurricane, the company reported Aug. 26 at about 3:30 p.m.

Businesses across Southeast Texas are closing doors and, in some cases, boarding up windows, as Hurricane Laura heads to the area as a Category 4 hurricane with winds expected to top 100 mph. Legacy Community Health announced Aug. 26 that it would be closing at 3 p.m. in preparation for the storm.
